Due to the weather conditions, we expect possible delays and cancellations. Also, we would like to ask you to take some extra time to travel to the airport. We advise you to check the actual flight information on our website frequently and to contact your airline.
On this page, you will find all the lesson materials that you need for passing the test “Access to the landing area L1 or L2”.
As you know, the landing area is split into 2 parts, that is, the L1 and L2 areas (see point 3 below). In short, people with the L1 authorisation may come within 50 meters of the take-off and landing strips on all roads. L2 gives access to the entire landing area, including the runway and taxiway, as long as a two-way radio connection is made with the air traffic control.
The “Access to the landing area” exam is necessary for anyone who wishes to enter the landing area. Knowledge of the grounds is necessary, in particular of all the elements that you can encounter in the landing area in order to be able to carry out your work as safely as possible. Since the landing area is split into two parts, there are also two different exams, specifically, L1 and L2.
If you wish to take exam L1, then you must be familiar with points 1 and 3 in the right-hand column. For point 3, you must be familiar with everything that is located in the L1 area, not only the structures, but also the names of the roads, the fence numbers and the specially designated places, such as the banner pick-up area. The exam consists of a series of multiple choice questions. If you wish to take the L2 exam, then you take a combined exam, to wit L1 and L2 (points 1, 2 and 3). The L2 exam consists of a series of open questions with a weighting factor. For point 3, you must know everything that is located in the L2 area, and you must know where the border is between L1 and L2 (point 3).
