Damaged items at security

Lost an item at security?
Sometimes an item may get lost during the security check. Passengers are responsible for keeping their belongings safe, but small items such as jewelry or papers can occasionally fall out of the tray and into the scanner.

What to do right away:

  • Ask a security officer to check if your item is in the first layer of the machine.
  • If it’s deeper inside, it will only be found when the machine is opened during monthly maintenance.
  • Items found during maintenance are listed on iLost, where you can claim them and arrange collection or delivery.

If your item isn’t listed yet, it may still be inside the machine.

Damaged item at security?
In rare cases, an item may be damaged during the check. Passengers are responsible for packing fragile items carefully, but if damage does occur, please follow these steps:

  1. Report it immediately to a security officer. Without an on the spot report, we won’t be able to help later.
  2. The officer will complete a damage report with you, feel free to take a photo as proof.
  3. Within 5 working days, report the damage through the chat function at the bottom right of this screen. After 5 days, camera footage is no longer available.

When reporting, please include:

  • Copy of your boarding pass
  • Time of the incident
  • Description of the damage
  • Photo of the damaged item
  • Proof of purchase or repair receipt

The airport will investigate and update you within 10 working days.

Who is responsible?

  • If the damage was caused by staff or equipment, the airport may be liable.
  • For fragile items (e.g. sunglasses, headphones), passengers remain responsible for packing and protecting them properly.
